Mt. Kailash Peak (Khangrinpoche) is 6638m above sea level and is the main peak of the Gangdise Mountain. More then 250 glaciers around the peak make it the sources of the Indus, Ganges and Yalung Zangbo ( Yalung rivers). Mt. Kailash (Khangrinpoche peak is the holy mountain in Tibet and attracts flocks of pilgrims from other parts of the country, India and Nepal to pay their respects to the Buddhism, Hindusm and the Bon.
The circumambulation of Mt. Kailash is an important pilgrimage for Hindus, Buddhists, and Bon. Hindus perform a parikrama, Buddhists call it a kora. Parikrama = Kora = Circuit. You are welcome to do either of these, or simply make a trek around the peak. Tibetan Buddhists believe that a single kora washes away the sins of one life and 108 circuits secure Nirvana in this life. Only the top of Mt. Kailash (Khang Rimpoche) is first visible from Darchen. It is 100km from Taklakot and 945km from Zangmu border in Nepal.
