Your adventure begins with visits to Tsetang—often regarded as the cradle of Tibetan civilization—and the revered Syame Monastery, where Tibetan Buddhism’s deep roots come to life. From there, you’ll spend three unforgettable days in Lhasa, exploring iconic landmarks like the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, and the vibrant Barkhor Bazaar.
From Lhasa, the journey continues northeast to Namtso Lake, one of Tibet’s highest and most sacred lakes. The route from Damshung is lightly traveled, often shared with yak herders and horseback riders. As you camp at the edge of Lake Namtso, enjoy the sparkling turquoise waters, birdlife, and breathtaking views of the snow-capped Nianqingtangla mountains.
Your return journey to Kathmandu is equally rich in experience, with overnight stays and sightseeing in Gyangtse, Shigatse, and Shegar, plus a side trip to the spiritually significant Sakya Monastery.
